WaspTime: I've set up rounding, but the timecards still show an uneven number of minutes.

Symptom: The Group has been set up to round the times to the nearest 15 minutes, round up after 7 minutes, or some other similar setup, but the timecard is showing the individual punches unrounded, and the daily and weekly totals also include uneven number of minutes.

Causes: To comply with common business practices, the actual punches are shown on the timecards, and the rounding is only applied in calculating the totals. So if an employee punches in at 7:57 AM and out at 5:19 PM, those are the times that show up on the timecard for the punches. But to calculate the total, 7:57 will round up to 8:00, and 5:19 will round down to 5:15, giving a daily total of 9:15.

If there are Breaks and Meals, it slightly complicates matters, and this can be hidden by the above behavior. Breaks and Meals have their own rounding defined on the Breaks and Meals tabs of the Group Setup screen, and the rounding for these is handled differently than the shift rounding. For breaks and meals, it rounds the total of each break or meal taken, and then subtracts it from the daily total. Staying with the above given 15 minutes, rounding up after 7 minutes, if your employee clocks our for lunch at 12:09 and back in at 12:34, rather than rounding that to 12:15 and 12:30 and reporting a 15 minute lunch, it instead takes the number of minutes, 25, and rounds them up to a 30 minute lunch.

Taking all of this together, if your employee has daily punches at 7:57, 12:09, 12:34 and 5:19, with no rounding that would give 8:57. Rounding the shift in/shift out, but not rounding the lunch would give 8:50 (9:15 - 25 minutes lunch). Rounding the shift in/shift out and the lunch gives 8:45 (9:15 - 30 minutes lunch).
