This article applies to multiple scanner models: WCS3900, WCS3905, WCS3950, WLR8900, WLR8905, WLR8950*.
Note: The WCS3950 uses the same user manual as the WLR8950 (linked below). Do not attempt to use the Keyboard Connection barcodes from the WCS3900 (older model) in place of Interface Selections; they are not the same.
Egg Cable (below): This cable includes an in-line egg-shaped component. This cable can be used with any scanner listed above.* When using this cable with the WCS3950 and WLR8950 models, the PS2 Interface Selection barcode must be scanned for proper operation. Note: If the USB KB Interface Selection is set on a WCS3950 or WLR8950, the scanner gives a triple beep (with no data sent) when scanning barcodes.
*: Newer firmware version WLR8950s with serial number 8000001 or above have a new engine that no longer supports the Egg Cable. These scanner will only be able to use the Green Band Cable, below, with the USB KB Interface selected. These scanners will not recognize the PS2 Interface Selection programming barcode.
Green Band Cable (below): This cable has a green band on the cable at the USB plug end. This cable can be used only with WCS3950 and WLR8950 models; the USB KB Interface Selection barcode must be scanned for proper operation (this is the default setting). Note: If the PS2 Interface Selection is set on a WCS3950 or WLR8950, the scanner gives a single beep (with no data sent) when scanning barcodes.
