During installation of the program, if it gets to the Visual C++ installation, but then that installer fails, causing the whole installation to then also fail, you can try installing VC++ 2008 separately by browsing the install disc and looking in VC++ Redist\2008 folder and running vcredist_x86.exe. If it fails to install from there as well with an error "External Installer has stopped responding", or if it appears to run, but then you check the "Add/Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" list in the Windows Control Panel and it still doesn't list Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable, then your machine may be hung up on a prior installation. Please reboot the machine and attempt the installation again.
