InventoryControl: Error when trying to create mobile database: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCE...

in Version 7

When trying to create the mobile database, you may receive an error: "Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCE, Version=3.5.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies'. The system could not find the file specified." This error means that SQL Server Compact Framework is either missing or corrupt.

To resolve this issue:

  1. On the InventoryControl client PC where you're attempting to create the mobile database, browse the InventoryControl installation disc, and navigate to: \PROG\Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 sp1\.

  2. Run SSCERuntime-ENU-x86.msi. If it gives the options to Repair or Remove, select Repair.

  3. If the error persists, rerun the installer and select Remove, then run it again and select Install.
