WaspBio Clock Managing Match Threshold Levels


Several factors can effect the readability of a fingerprint. One is dry skin. If the employee has very dry skin, his fingerprint may not read very well. There are other factors such as the condition of the finger and the method of placing the finger on the reader. The technology is always improving and Wasp will continue to upgrade the readers so the missed read rate of the scanner becomes less of an issue. At this time the BioClock has a very fast read rate but there are some fingerprints that will just not read.

Please read page 7 of the WaspBio Clock manual that is installed and is on the product CD. It shows the proper placement of a finger on the sensor surface.

One thing you can do to help employees who have hard to read fingerprints is to register a second or third finger. This way if the first finger does not register the employee can try another.

Another option is to have the employee key in their badge number before attempting to scan the finger. Since this is a 1 to 1 match, it uses a lower match threshold.

The clock has a setting to change the match threshold levels. When the clock ships from the factory this setting has been tested and set to the optimum match level. We suggest you do not change the match levels.

If you have an employee who does not read at all you can always give him a password on the clock. See page 10 of the WaspBio Clock manual. This will allow the user to use his id and password to clock in and out instead of the fingerprint. This should be a last resort because it gives the employee the ability to fake his punch by giving his id and password to someone else.
