Tips & Tricks
Inserting the battery:
Leave the strap hanging out when inserting the battery. (The strap is used when removing the battery to pull it loose.) Put the top in first (with metal contacts), then bottom. There is a noticeable snap when the bottom of the battery is installed. If the battery lid resists snapping in, the battery is probably not snapped in all the way, so try that again.
How to bring up the on-screen keyboard?
Press the P1 key at the upper left corner of the keypad.
Note: If the yellow lights at the left and right side of the screen are on, this means the yellow Alpha key has been activated, and P1 will not bring up the on-screen keyboard in this mode. To exit this mode, press the yellow Alpha key again (lower left corner of the keypad), and the yellow lights will go out.
How to take a screenshot?
Press and hold the red Power button (lower right corner of keypad) until a small menu pops out from the right side of the screen. Then tap Screenshot.
Where are the screenshots stored?
In the Gallery. At the home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal all your apps. Tap Gallery to show your photos and screenshots.
How do I email a picture?
Tap the picture, so the interface buttons appear. Tap the Share button (one dot connecting to two dots) for options, including Gmail.
How to type special characters with the physical keyboard
- In normal mode, the numbers, comma and period produce those characters.
- Press and release the Yellow button (lower left) to enter Alpha mode. You will see an A in a box appear on screen at the upper right to indicate the keypad is in this mode. Press and release the Yellow button again to exit Alpha mode. While in Alpha mode, output is lowercase versions of the yellow printed letters on the keypad, plus F11, F12, volume down, volume up. The ALT key gives a space.
- Shifted Alpha mode: When already in Alpha mode, hold Shift, press a letter, then release to give the capital of that letter. You see an Up arrow at the upper right. Press Shift twice to lock it down; the screen indicator is an Up arrow with a rectangle below.
