InventoryControl : Is there a faster way to do all the Add transactions I must perform to populate the database with my initial inventory?

Yes.  You can use the Import utility to import quantity information against previously defined Items by importing records from a .CSV file to the Inventory table.  See the Help topics regarding Import.
