WaspTime Web: after installing, error 0x80070021: The requested page cannot be accessed...

Scott Leonard

in Version 7

After installing WaspTime Web and attempting to browser, you get error 0x80070021: The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".

Cause: ASP.NET needs to be enabled before installing WaspTime Web. In workstation versions of Windows, this can be enabled in Windows Features, in Programs and Features. In Windows Server, this is done in Server Manager. Articles below in Related Pages are for Server 2008, and Server 2012 and later.

After enabling ASP.NET, delete the WaspTime Web site from IIS Manager (Internet Information Services Manager), then rerun the WaspTime Web installer. (It is not necessary to completely uninstall WaspTime for this process.)
